Underground City in Bochnia Salt Mine
|
The Salt Mine at Bochnia in Poland is the oldest and deepest of its type in Europe. It is older than its more famous sister at Wieliczka as its history dates from the 13th century Nowadays the Salt Mine is a real labyrinth of underground drifts and salt chambers
Because of the specific microclimate of the salt chambers , which have a high content of sodium chloride and the purity of the underground air, the 3hour route is not only an interesting journey through an underground town but also a visit to salt mine health resort where you can breathe in pure underground air. The 120 m long Boat Route which is in a chamber filled with brine located at a depth of 230 m is a magnificent complement to the sightseeing route. Another stunning attraction is the small railway which passes by all the places of interest.
