Warsaw - Jewish Tract
|
From the 11th century until the beginning of World War II Poland was regarded as the European centre of Jewish culture. On this trip you will see:
the former Jewish district, the Nożyk Synagogue and a kirkut (Jewish cemetery). The former Jewish ghetto ? prior to World War II the Warsaw Jewish community was one of the biggest in the world. You can still find hidden traces of the rich culture here such as: Umschlagplatz, the Monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto commemorating the places of Jewish martyrdom during World War II, Zamenhof and Miła Streets and fragments of the very busy Nalewki Street. |
